Clinical Evaluation of Sodium-2-Mercapto-Ethane Sulphonate (MISTABRON^(®)) in Respiratory Diseases

Abstract
|
|
|
MISTABRON® has been used in 20 patients with respiratory diseases who had difficulty in sputum mobilization. MISTABRON® was mixed with same volume of saline (1 : 1 dilution) and was inhaled by Micro-Inhaler® in 15 cases and by ventilator attached nebulizer in 5 cases.
In 16 cases (80%), sputum mobilization had improved by decreased viscosity or by increased production.
The side effects observed were 3 cases of pharyngeal dryness and 1 case of decreased platelet count.
